FFD France vs Belgium Pouilly-en-Auxois

What a fantastic weekend. It was a long 7 hour trip to Pouilly en Auxois, but it was so worth it.
The atmosphere, the good company and the awesome drifting made this weekend one of the very best drift weekends I ever had.

On Saturday the day didn't start so well for me, as my carbon hood opened up while driving to the track,
fortunately there wasn't much damage and the hood was attached back easily.
In the afternoon, unlucky again, my exhaust broke in 2. I was lucky to find a Volkswagen garage nearby, still open at 16.30 to weld it.
I won't say this often, but thank you VW for this :). I had to blow some steam off and did a last great driftrun of 20 minutes.

On Sunday a competition was planned, there were about 40-45 cars and after the warm up
we started with the qualifications for best of 16, where I finished third.
The 4 Belgian drivers present were in the top 16: Olivier Colicis, Marc Van Ocken, Driftangel Deborah Lopez and myself.
The top 16 prepared themself for the exciting twin drift battles.
My first battle was against a very good driving AE86 which took an extra run to separate us.
Marc and Deborah were eliminated, Deborah due to a spin in the third round against a very nice S14a.
Deborah went on to the Sideways (solo) challenge and did perfect runs making her win this category. Congrats Deb !!!

Olivier and I battled on, my next opponent was a Swiss aggressive driving BMW.
It took 3 runs to get a winner, I got the victory because of the driftangle I kept.
Olivier eliminated a Swiss S13 and we were both in the top 4.
That is were I lost to Tony with his beautiful S14, again very close runs with none of both making mistakes. It took 3 runs to separate us.
Olivier lost to David with his AE86 and the "petite finale" was to be driven between me and Olivier.
He hardly had any tyres left but did the battle nevertheless, first round was very easy for me in front,
but in the second round as he was going very slow I had to brake hard and lost my angle behind him.
I tried to overtake him over the grass and give everything I got. On the finish line his tyre then finally exploded.
The judges gave him the third place for the bravery and show element of that run but again it was very close.

Special thanks to Graham Callaway and the FFD for the invitation.
